Yes — refunds can be requested for any unused pass within 12 months of purchase. Contact info@citypass.co.za to start the process. An admin fee of R40 applies per refund. Once you have scanned the pass at the first attraction, it can no longer be refunded.
Most Cape Town attractions accept the pass without prior reservation. Premium experiences (helicopter, shark cage dive, safari, whale watching, paragliding) and a few others do need to be booked, especially in peak season. The operator recommends calling ahead or checking the attraction's own page to confirm.
You have 12 months from the date of purchase to activate the pass. Once you scan it at your first attraction, the validity runs for consecutive calendar days (not 24-hour periods). A 3-day pass scanned on Tuesday is valid Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
No — each attraction can be visited once during the pass period. The hop-on hop-off bus is the exception and is unlimited within the pass validity.
No, the days must be consecutive. There is no "pause" functionality.
Yes — the operator confirms that the pass is accepted directly at the Cableway ticket counter. A few travellers have reported staff asking them to exchange the voucher first; if that happens, calmly refer them to the Cape Town City Pass acceptance policy at the Cableway. Annual maintenance closure in 2026: Monday 27 July to Sunday 9 August (the exact dates shift each year, so check the operator close to your trip).
No, neither is part of the pass. Both require separate entry tickets paid on site. The hop-on hop-off bus does stop near Kirstenbosch.
The Flying Dutchman Funicular at Cape Point is included with the pass. The Cape Point Nature Reserve entry fee itself is not.
Not unless explicitly mentioned. The pass does come with fixed-value benefits at several restaurants (Hard Rock Cafe Camps Bay, Mojo Market, Mariner's Wharf and others) — see the attractions page for the full list.

The Red City Tour and the Blue Mini Peninsula Tour both run every 30 minutes, daily. There is also a Constantia Wine Tour mini-loop (Silvermist, Constantia Nek, Groot Constantia, Beau Constantia) that runs all year. The last city loop typically leaves the V&A Waterfront around 18:06 in winter. Full-day Xplorer tours (Cape Point, Franschhoek Wine Tram, 3 Regions Wine Tour) leave V&A Waterfront around 08:30. The Hermanus Tour operates Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays only.
The hop-on hop-off bus audio guide is available in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese and Mandarin among others.
Children under 4 travel free on the hop-on hop-off bus. Individual attractions follow their own age policies for under-4s (most are free).
The child price applies to ages 4–17 and includes the same access as adult passes. Adult prices apply from age 18.
No — each person needs their own pass. The savings are still substantial for families because most attractions have separate child prices that the pass replaces.
The Premium Pass includes everything in the Unlimited Pass plus exactly one premium experience of your choice — helicopter flight, shark cage dive, Big Five safari, whale watching, paragliding or similar. For most travellers the Unlimited Pass is enough; pick Premium only if you specifically want that one extra bucket-list activity. See the Premium Pass page for the full list.
No — each Premium Pass includes exactly one premium experience. To do two, you would book a second Premium Pass or pay for the additional experience separately on site.
